goodbye lisa!

October 23, 2006

Ok so normally I don't give a toss about idol. But this year..... I don't know it somehow seemed different... maybe because this year they could actually sing!

She is Major cute-as-a-button. Someone get PR she has huge potential. The next Jewel. Or the next chick singer from Leonardo's Bride... what was her name again?? Bad example!

So far I have loved every second of watching Lisa. I don't vote and I don't buy the music... But it's yet another reality show I have found myself getting addicted to!

But what on earth is she wearing ?!?! Don't get me wrong, I'm a Lisa fan from way back... the cute ballet slippers I thought were cute - Kyle can go buy Tamara another pair of Manolo's for all I care, let the girl show her individuality!

But hello! That top is all wrong, IMHO, and the blue blue jeans I just don't dig. The grey colour is defiantly rocking her skin colour, but the cut makes her look like she is hiding a droopy chest!

I have massive respect for the stylist team that do Idol etc etc, its a hard job and one I know first hand. Its so hard to balance what "they" want with 1) whats available to buy and 2) what you know will and won't work! So to the team that usually gets its right... Who was on the champers and missed final checks???

tick tick tick...

waiting for mr big to pick me up...
"quiet" nite out - he is getting old. not like we used to be. friends who once painted the town red and every shade of pink quietly sit and contemplate what colours they would use should they be daring to even pick up the paintbrush.
*sigh*

one love.

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you
Now you got someone to blame

You say
One love
One life
When its one need
In the night
Its one love
We get to share it
It leaves you baby
If you dont care for it

Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without

Well its too late
Tonight
To drag tha past out
Into the light
Were one
But were not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come tor raise the dead
Havew you come here to play jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now its all I got
Were one
But were not the same
We hurt each other
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I cant be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should

One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers

One life
But were not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other

One

One.

my time to do some good.

October 13, 2006

Ok so I have created a pledge!

I have noticed the TEAR ad's on tv latley and wow they really hit home. I'm such a sucker for a sad ad.

Do I really need a latte each day or does a little old lady in some backwater 3rd world country need her eyesight?
Do I really need to buy vogue... ok yes. Sorry I can't give that up but we all have our guilty pleasures!
Do I really need to buy lunch once a week or does a small child need school supplies for a year?

*sigh*
my aquarius rising makes me a sucker for the underdog. So the capricorn in me got very excited when I discovered I can make other people help me! If you sign up to my pledge, not only will you be uber cool... cause I said so.... but you'll be helping the world to be a better place.

My pledge is that this year I will not buy any gifts for my friends and family for christmas but instead purchase items from TEAR australia like a goat, a mosquito net, sewing classes... you get the drift, you know those things we just take for granted....

(althought I could do with a good sewing class myself...)

You get a card with a pic on it of what you bought to send to the recipient of your gift. So instead of another photo frame, you can buy your bestie an organic vegetable garden. Dad will no longer get expensive wisky but a small business loan. (And i need some suggestions... should my stepmother get a toilet or a heifer?? decisions decisions...)
Mum would love a Women's Self Help group and Mr C... well on behalf of that gorgeous man i'd go all out and buy the Villiage Well!

SO GO! Look at my pledge. A kiss to every signer-uperer.

And if you want to see what other cool things you can buy go here.

motorbike passenger etiquette

June 22, 2006

Mr C recently invested in a motorbike.... which we all find h-o-t hot!

some interesting things i discovered myself include;
  • oh my god the ground moves quickly when you are on a vehicle with no walls!
  • oh my god if i let go i'd be dead.
  • oh my god my mum would kill me if she saw me on this thing!
  • its bloody cold regradless of the outside temp.
and maybe most weirdly of all....
  • you really notice how different suburbs and roads smell! did you know you can smell chicken treat before you can see it?
So i've looked up what I *should* know, although I was fully briefed by Mr C before any helmet-hair shaking began....

And happy to report I knew most things!!

BUT
what I didn't know....
  • some riders (usually male) with passengers (usually female) who are trying for cheap intimacy may brake harder or more frequently than they need to. This practice is known as the "boob jam"
now thats just not on! Although I must ask Mr C if he has heard of that....
  • It's not uncommon for your helmets to bump when accelerating or decelerating. Don't apologize. This is not causing a problem, and it's normally the rider's fault because he isn't riding as smoothly as he should.
ok i didn't know that one - I felt bad when we bumped!!
  • It is customary to get on or off the motorcycle from the left side. Always wait for the rider to tell you it's okay to mount or dismount.
just like a pony!
  • try not to move around any more than is necessary, particularly when the motorcycle is stopped, as it affects the balance of the motorcycle.
ok so technically i did know that, but today i got accused of wriggling at the lights when we were stopped... so i put it here to remember not to!
  • Motorcycles turn by leaning (banking like an airplane), not by steering like a car. So don't be alarmed when the motorcycle leans over to go around a corner. To position yourself perfectly for a turn, just look over the rider's shoulder in the direction of the turn. If the motorcycle is turning right, look over the rider's right shoulder; if it is turning left, look over the rider's left shoulder.
